| Vision
Our
Vision is “EMPOWER the child with QUALITY, HOLISTIC
EDUCATION and OPPORTUNITIES to develop into RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS
to overcome SOCIAL INJUSTICE.”
Disha Foundation is devoted to improving the lives of slum-children.
The main objective of Disha Foundation is to provide assistance
to socially marginalized and disadvantaged school-going children
from the Manoharpukur slum area. It is devoted in its attempt
to help these children realize their dreams and aspirations.
It focuses on the all round development of these children
by facilitating their exposure to education and extracurricular
activities. It aims to broaden their horizon and empower them
to actively work towards realizing their future goals. The
main objective is to ensure that these underprivileged children
do not drop out from schools before the Board examinations.
The lack of proper guidance, paucity of financial funds; are
some of the main reasons which deter these children from continuing
with their education. Disha Foundation has adopted the Manoharpukur
slum area for reforms. It helps the children to successfully
complete studies up to higher secondary level and/or assist
them to acquire skills for employment. Disha helps the children
with educational inputs to supplement school teaching. Disha
aims to give underprivileged children between 2– 18
years a head start in life through schooling; so they blossom
into educated, employable adults who can contribute positively
towards the growth and development of the country. This effectively
helps to reduce the anti-social tendencies acquired by some
of these children, given their association with undesirable
elements in society. Disha Foundation’s work area focuses
on the following four areas:
•
Education
• Health
• Vocational training
• Value education
These
are incorporated through regular in-class training and other
programmes. It operates through the following four sections:
•
Balwadi: targets children in the age group of 2.5 to 5 years
• Primary Section: non-formal school from class K.G.
to class IV. This also includes remedial coaching.
•
ED Plus: Remedial coaching for older children
•
